The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced an upward review of fees for the standard Nigerian passport, effective September 1.
In a statement on Thursday, by Assistant Comptroller of Immigration Akinsola Akinlabi, the Service’s Public Relations Officer, said the new charges apply only to applications made within Nigeria.
Under the revised structure, the 32-page passport with a five-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, while the 64-page passport with a ten-year validity has been raised to ₦200,000.
The NIS, however, clarified that fees for Nigerians applying abroad remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year passport, and $230 for the 64-page, ten-year passport.
According to the Service, the adjustment is aimed at preserving the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring it remains accessible to citizens.
