An air of palpable fear is hovering over Communities on Cape Formosa Island of Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State after the body of a woman, who went missing, was found dismembered.
The 47-years-old Ayebaesin Amazige of both Egweama and Liama sister Communities was said to have gone fishing on Saturday, 2 August, 2025 at about 10am but did not return until nightfall, prompting apprehension among family members and kinsmen who dispatched a search team.
Community sources say no trace of her was found until Monday afternoon.
The people of Egweama and Liama and neighboring communities were greeted with rude shock when they discovered that her neck was severed, her tongue and private part cut off.
Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, the Community Development Committee, CDC Chairman of Egweama, while confirming the incident called for calm and urged security agents, the police and DSS, to thoroughly investigate the gruesome killing of Ayebaesin Amazige in cold blood.
Comrade Yemoleigha who is the current Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalist, Bayelsa State Council, says the community is in deep shock, as the woman’s life has been cut short for no just cause noting that she had gone for a catch to provide for herself and her family saying that the incident is truly sad and barbaric.
The incident has been reported to the Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force in Brass LGA.
