POLICE ARREST 40 YEARS OLD MAN OVER ALLEGED DEFILEMENT, IMPREGNATION OF 12 YEARS OLD GIRL IN BAYELSA

Operatives of the State Special Police Squad, Door Akpor, has arrested a 40 years old man over allegations of forceful defilement, threat to life and impregnation of a 12 years old girl in Dimrose area of Ebis in Biogbolo community of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

The culprit, who is identified as Emeka and an Indigene of Anambra State and a businessman who shuttles between Yenagoa and Anambra, is married with four children.

According to the mother of the Girl, the victim was discovered to be seven months pregnant when she fainted due to strange ailments. She confessed that the Step-Mother’s daughter took her to the man before she was violated.

She claimed that the dastardly act was carried out during the time the victim was with her father and Step Mother, she was even forcefully raped by the man in her father’s house.

In a petition to the State Police Commissioner, the DO Foundation through Ms. Tokoni Queen Dufugha, its secretary, said the incident has brought pain, trauma and embarrassment to the victim and her family.
The Do Foundation also sought for the immediate transfer of the case to the State Police Command as it’s a case of defilement.

Speaking on the development, Dr. Dise Ogbise Goddy Harry, the Founder of the DO Foundation and President of the National Association of Women Against Genda Based Violence, confirmed that within three days this week the women groups have recorded three cases of sexual abuse on boys and girls and two cases of physical violence on women.

While noting that the situation is heartbreaking, she called for justice for the victim adding that the DO foundation will in addition give her psycho socio support.
