NNPCL TANKER CRUSHES FIVE SIBLINGS TO DEATH IN BAYELSA COMMUNITY

A fuel tanker belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL has reportedly crushed five children to death while they were returning from school in Ibelebiri Community, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Wednesday.

The children, who were from the same family, were said to be pupils of schools in Otuasega Community but lived in Ibelebiri.

According to the source, the tricycle, popularly known as Keke involved in the incident was not operating as a commercial vehicle. It was reportedly sent by the children’s father to pick up his children from different schools in Otuasega.

It was gathered that the tanker driver fled the scene before residents arrived. However, another individual said to have been accompanying the driver was apprehended by military personnel and subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.

Images and videos obtained by our correspondent showed scenes of grief, as residents wailed and mourned the tragic loss.
