DSS DRAGS SOWORE, FACEBOOK, X TO COURT OVER PRESIDENT TINUBU POSTS
The Department of State Services has taken Mr. Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate and tech companies X Corp and Meta Inc (Facebook) to court over posts critical of President Bola Tinubu.
The five-count charge was filed on September 16, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The case followed Sowore’s refusal to take down comments he made on X, where he described the President in unflattering terms.
The suit was entered by the Director of Public Prosecutions at the Federal Ministry of Justice, M.B. Abubakar, alongside four DSS lawyers.
Reacting to the development, Sowore confirmed the charges in a Facebook post, accusing the DSS of inventing offences to silence him. He insisted he would not delete the controversial post and vowed to appear in court when the case is assigned for trial.
