As climate change continues to change weather conditions across the world, some residents of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, have expressed concern over the intense heat currently experienced across the state.
Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent on Monday said the prevailing weather conditions have made daily activities uncomfortable and disrupted their sleep patterns, especially at night.
According to them, the excessive heat has made it difficult for many households to rest properly, particularly in areas where electricity supply is unstable.
They also noted that the rising temperatures have led to an increase in heat-related health conditions, including heat rashes and general body discomfort.
The residents therefore called on the government and relevant authorities to address the persistent problem of erratic power supply in Bayelsa State, stressing that reliable electricity would enable households to use cooling appliances such as fans and air conditioners to cope with the harsh weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the weather outlook for Tuesday, March 10, in Yenagoa indicates cloudy conditions in the morning, followed by periods of clouds and sunshine later in the afternoon, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms. The temperature is expected to peak at about 32 degrees Celsius.
