Residents of Yenagoa Town woke up on Sunday to a disturbing stench that led to the discovery of a decomposing corpse, later identified as 23-year-old Bliamini Abdulmumini.
The deceased, a native of Sokoto State, was a trader and Point of Sale, POS, operator at the popular Swali Market.
Eyewitness say he had been missing for several days before neighbours discovered his lifeless body in a pool of blood.
According to eyewitnesses, relatives and friends had been searching for Bliamini since Thursday, the day he was last seen.
Mr. Abdulmumini, father of the deceased, recounted his last interaction with his son, saying he was last seen on Thursday when he said he was going to the bank.
Mr. Abdulmalik, a family friend, added that the search intensified on Friday after multiple attempts to reach Bliamini by phone failed.
In reaction to the incident, Chief Tobi Justine-Neze, the Chieftain of Fankpo in Yenagoa Town, strongly condemned the killing, stressing that both indigenes and non-indigenes have coexisted peacefully in the community for years.
He called on the police and other security agencies to ensure justice is served.
Also speaking, Chief Lawrence Yongosi praised the Hausa community in Yenagoa Town for their swift response and assistance in tracking down the suspected killer.
The corpse has been evacuated; however, the Police authorities are yet to issue an official statement.
