The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for a legal framework to support electronic transmission of election results ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mr. Debo Ologunagba, PDP National Publicity Secretary, told journalists in Abuja on Monday that electronic transmission from polling units remains the only way to guarantee credible elections and restore public confidence in the process.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address the glitches experienced with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), arguing that if point-of-sale terminals function reliably across the country, BVAS should not fail during elections.

Ologunagba also confirmed that the party’s elective convention will hold in November in Ibadan, expressing optimism that the gathering will unify the PDP as it prepares for the 2027 polls.

He further called on President Bola Tinubu to appoint an independent INEC chairman who can deliver free, fair, and credible elections.
