ATIKU ABUBAKAR RESIGNS FROM PDP, CITES IRRECONCILABLE DIFFERENCES
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), ending his long-standing relationship with the party he helped to establish.

In a letter dated July 14, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of Jada 1 Ward in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Atiku said he was stepping down from the party with immediate effect.

He explained that his decision was driven by deep disagreements with the direction the PDP is currently heading, which he said no longer aligns with its original ideals.
“It is heartbreaking for me to take this step, but I find it necessary,” Atiku stated in the letter. “The path the party has taken is far from the founding principles we believed in.”

Atiku expressed gratitude for the roles the PDP allowed him to play, including serving as Vice President for two terms and contesting the presidency twice under its platform.
While bidding the party farewell, he wished its leadership well in the future, noting that his decision was made with a heavy heart.
