AKAMAMA COMMUNITY IN BAYELSA SEEKS FEDERAL, STATE GOVERNMENT’S INVENTION OVER REOCCURRING ATTACKS

The people of Akamama community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have sent a save-our-soul message to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Douye Diri and Hon. Target Segibo, the Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, over incessant attacks on the community by unidentified uniform men.

Akamama community, has faced repeated destruction of property, disruption of livelihoods, and mass exodus of residents and rising fear of more attacks, leaving the community at the risk of being completely abandoned.

Mr. Ebikakpo Mechelin, the Community Development Committee Chairman, and Mr. Tonye Kalas, Public Relations Officer of Akamama, explained that the latest wave of destruction was allegedly carried out by individuals in military uniforms.

Mr. Ebimiede John and Ms. Blessing Sunny, some victims of the most recent invasion, counted their painful experiences and called on the government to come to their aid.

Meanwhile, Mr. Musa Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa State Police Command, said the command is yet to be aware of such an incident, but that will take the necessary steps when duly informed of the incident.
