Politics: bayelsa government reiterates commitment to funding and completion of its projects

Bayelsa State Government has said it is embarking on projects with adequate funding plan to completion.

Hon. Maxwell Ebibai, the State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebibai, made the assertion during the State Transparency Briefing for the months of October, November and December, 2024.

Hon. Ebibai, who said the government was funding its various ongoing projects noted that the administration would work hard not to leave behind abandoned projects.

Giving a rundown of the income and expenditure, the Finance Commissioner said in the month of October 2024 the total gross inflow from the federation account, was 26. 514, billion-naira, statutory allocation was 509 million naira, deductions at Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC, was 1.735 billion naira while the net inflow from FAAC after deduction is 24.779 billion naira.

For the month of November 2024, total receipt after FAAC deductions was 75.5 billion naira, salaries for civil servants was 5.917-billion-naira, political appointees’ salaries, 1.565 billion naira, gratuities 7.2-billion-naira, pension arrears 283 million naira, corpers salaries, stood at 54.7 million naira while the balance at the end of November 2024 was 194 billion naira.

For December 2024, he said the statutory allocation was 2.07-billion-naira, VAT was 5.479-billion-naira, total receipts from FAAC for December 2024 was 52 billion naira, while the balance carried into January 2025 was 193 billion naira.

Earlier in her opening remarks, Hon. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, had assured that the government will always remain accountable to Bayelsans and committed to building legacy projects.
