APGA CANDIDATE PLEDGES ACCESSIBLE REPRESENTATION, HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT IN KOLOKUMA/OPOKUMA CONSTITUENCY II

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, candidate for Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency II in the 2027 Bayelsa State House of Assembly election, Engineer Ikioumoton Frederick Ugo, has pledged to prioritise accessible representation, human capital development and effective oversight if elected.

Ugo made the commitment at a press conference on Friday, September 4, in Sabagreia, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, shortly after the inauguration of his campaign secretariat and his presentation with the Certificate of Return by APGA State Chairman, Chief Brisibe Kpodoh.

The candidate said his legislative agenda would focus on expanding opportunities for education and skills acquisition through scholarships, grants and collaboration with government agencies, intervention organisations, oil companies and other stakeholders.

He also promised to monitor the implementation of budgetary provisions and government programmes targeted at the constituency, stressing that effective representation should go beyond the enactment of laws to ensuring that existing policies and projects deliver tangible benefits to the people.

“I want to serve you. I don’t want to be a leader. I want to be a servant leader. Give me your votes and I promise you, you will never regret it,” Ugo said.

The APGA candidate also promised to remain accessible to his constituents, saying he would maintain close contact with the people and ensure that their concerns were reflected in his legislative responsibilities.

He urged voters to reject what he described as political imposition and self-serving leadership, calling for a system in which constituents freely choose representatives who will protect their interests.

“We have had enough of imposition. We have had enough of people that are selfish and thinking about themselves alone. This is the time for us to all come together and ensure that we have leadership that will represent the people,” he said.

Ugo had earlier visited community stakeholders and elders in Ward 9, Okoloba, and Ward 10, Sabagreia, alongside APGA state and ward leaders, as part of activities marking the commencement of his campaign.

As part of the event, he announced university scholarships for 20 students and empowerment initiatives targeted at women and youths across the constituency.

Speaking at the inauguration, APGA State Chairman, Chief Brisibe Kpodoh, described Ugo as a candidate with a record of service to the people and expressed confidence in the party’s ability to win the constituency in the 2027 election.

Kpodoh urged party supporters to use the campaign secretariat as a platform for grassroots mobilisation, consultation and engagement with voters.

The inauguration marked the commencement of APGA’s grassroots campaign activities for Ugo, with party executives, ward leaders, supporters, women and youths in attendance.
