As the world commemorates World Kidney Day today, Dr. Ikemefuna Chinedu, a Yenagoa based medical practitioner has called on Nigerians to take proactive steps in caring for their kidneys.
Dr. Ikemefuna Chinedu, who is a doctor in one of the health facilities in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital gave this advice during an interview with Judith Nnakee, Golden 97.5 FM correspondent.
He emphasized the importance of preventive measures and urged the public to maintain kidney health through regular checkups, reduced salt intake, and limited consumption of alcohol.
Addressing common misconceptions about kidney disease, Dr. Chinedu clarified that being diagnosed with the condition is not a death sentence.
He said with proper medical care and lifestyle adjustments, patients can lead normal, healthy lives.
World Kidney Day is observed annually on March 13th. This year’s theme, “Are Your Kidneys, okay?”, serves as a timely reminder of the importance of taking precautionary steps to safeguard kidney health.
