The Senegalese Football Federation has begun an appeal process against a decision by the Confederation of African Football to strip the country of its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco.
In a statement on Wednesday, the federation said the ruling by CAF’s Appeals Board undermines the integrity of African football and must be reviewed.
CAF had earlier announced that Senegal forfeited the final match despite securing a 1-0 win on the pitch. The decision followed an incident late in the game when several Senegalese players briefly walked off in protest against a refereeing call.
The continental body ruled that the match be recorded as a 3-0 victory in favour of Morocco, effectively handing the title to the North African side.
Senegal’s football authorities say they are challenging the outcome, insisting the decision does not reflect the true result of the game.
