RIVERS ASSEMBLY RESUMES AFTER EMERGENCY RULE SUSPENSION
The Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday reconvened after being out of session for six months following the suspension that accompanied emergency rule in the state.
Lawmakers, led by Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker resumed plenary at the Assembly Residential Complex on the Aba–Port Harcourt Expressway, marking the legislature’s first sitting since March 12, 2025.
The suspension had been declared alongside Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, when President Bola Tinubu imposed emergency rule to restore order.
Their return comes as political activities gradually normalize, with large groups of supporters gathering at Government House to welcome Governor Fubara back to office.
