The Nigerian Police Force has promoted 228 Policemen in the Bayelsa Command from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
The State Commissioner of Police, Daniel Iyamah Edobor, while speaking at the formal decoration ceremony at the State Officers’ Mess, said the numbers recorded by the command is out the 26,000 Inspectors promoted recently by the Headquarters of the NPF.
CP Daniel Iyamah Edobor told the newly promoted ASP to consider their promotion as an indication that to whom much is given, much is expected.
According to him, “more promotion means more work. If you want confirmation and more promotion, you have to put in more work.”
He cautioned the Rank and file of the Command to consider these promotion as a challenge for them to shun indiscipline, corruption, extortion and violation of citizen rights.
“You have to show obedience to order and directives and respect human rights. Any action that will violate rules and order of the Nigerian Police should be shunned.”
“You have to be civil to members of the public, shun corruption and extortion.
One of the newly promoted ASPs, ASP Gabriel Yenegue, expressed appreciation to the top echelon of the Nigerian Police and the Bayelsa State Command for the promotion, vowing that each officers promoted will rededicate themselves to law and order.
