Governor Douye Diri has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, noting that the process has fostered unity between old and new members of the party.

The governor stated that with the successful conduct of ward and local government congresses, members of the APC in the state have been fully integrated and now operate as one family.

He made the remarks on Saturday during the party’s local government congress held in Kaiama, the headquarters of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.

Governor Diri further declared that the APC has emerged as the dominant political party in Kolokuma/Opokuma and is well positioned to win forthcoming elections both in the local government area and across the state.

He charged the newly elected local government executives and state congress delegates to prioritise the re-election of Bola Tinubu in 2027, urging them to work towards delivering 95 per cent of the votes to the APC.

The congress was conducted by Mr. Marlin Daniel, Chairman of the Kolokuma/Opokuma APC Election Committee. Mr. Panebi Dipagha emerged as chairman by consensus alongside 26 other executive members.
The exercise was observed by Chief Frank Omare, Chairman of the APC State Congresses Committee, Hon. Oghene Egho, Chairman of the Screening Committee, and witnessed by an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the newly elected executives, Mr. Dipagha thanked the party leadership in Kolokuma/Opokuma for the confidence reposed in them and assured members that they would operate within the provisions of the party’s constitution.

He also commended Governor Diri for what he described as exemplary leadership in both the party and the state, pledging to adopt a consultative approach in decision-making.
