FGGC, ABULOMA 50TH

As part of activities to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Federal Government Girls College, Abuloma, which will be coming up on the 28th of March 2025, the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Old Girl’s Association of the School has said it would be embarking on sensitization programmes on Drug Abuse and Period Poverty.

Executives of the Old Girls Association of FGGC, Abuloma, Bayelsa Chapter gave the hint during a courtesy visit to Golden 97.5 FM.

Dr. Mrs. Pauline Ebiye Sawyer, Bayelsa Chairperson, FGGC, Abuloma, informed that the aim of the association is geared towards promoting the welfare and advancement of their alma mater, other unity schools as well as state government owned schools in Bayelsa State to foster a sense of community among their members.

Ms. Bonsome Walson, Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, who gave further information on activities slated for the 50th Anniversary programme, said they have obtained approval from the state ministry of education and invited 21 secondary schools as well as partnered other well-meaning organizations and individuals to make the event colourful.

Responding Mr. Micheal Emeyonu, Station Manager, Golden 97.5 FM, who congratulated FGGC, Abuloma, on its 50th Anniversary, said the schools has produced notable individuals in the society. He also commended them for embarking on education on ways to use the reusable sanitary pads.

Mr. Emeyonu who decried poverty and low access to education as some of the problems affecting the girl child in the South-South region, pledged Golden 97.5 FM’s support to FGGC Abuloma, Bayelsa Chapter to enable their programme succeeds.
