FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CANCELS INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE, AFFIRMS OTHER PROGRAMMES WILL HOLD

The Federal Government has announced the cancellation of the Independence Anniversary parade earlier scheduled to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day on Wednesday, October 1.

In a statement issued on Monday, September 29, by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, the government said the cancellation does not diminish the importance of the milestone, adding that it remains committed to celebrating the anniversary with dignity and enthusiasm.

“All other programmes slated for the Independence Anniversary will remain in effect,” the statement read, while expressing regrets over any inconvenience caused by the decision.

The Federal Government also appreciated the understanding and cooperation of Nigerians, the diplomatic community, and invited guests. It further urged citizens to support the reforms of President Bola Tinubu, in the collective effort to build a greater nation.
