Chief Rotimi Amaechi, Former Governor of Rivers State, has been declared as winner of the African Democratic Congress, ADC Presidential Primary election in Bayelsa State.
Chief Amaechi polled a total of 44,404 votes to emerge victorious. Announcing the results at the party secretariat in Yenagoa, Commodore Promise Dappa, the Chairman of the ADC Presidential Primary Committee in Bayelsa State, declared that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, came second with 6,570 votes, while Mr. Mohammed Hayatu-Deen scored 939 votes.
The primary election was conducted across all 105 wards in the state. Speaking to newsmen after the declaration, Captain Matthew Karimo, the ADC Chairman in Bayelsa State, described the exercise as free, fair, and credible. He stated that the African Democratic Congress is positioned to take over the leadership of Nigeria in 2027.
The outcome was endorsed by Senator Clever Ikisikpo, an ADC National Executive Committee member and former Bayelsa West Senatorial candidate.
Meanwhile, Professor Theodore Allison, Chairman-Designate of the ADC in Bayelsa State, expressed satisfaction with the party’s performance over the past year. He described the ADC as a dominant political party that will bring lasting change to Nigeria’s governance structure.
A total of 56,356 delegates were registered, 53,298 were accredited, 51,913 votes were declared valid while 1,785 votes were rejected.
