The Bayelsa State Ministry of Education has announced plans to admit students into some of the established free boarding Technical Colleges in the State.
This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday September 16, 2025 signed by Mr. Simon-Peter Okene, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, saying that the entrance examinations into the Technical Colleges for the 2025/2026 Academic Session for Tech-one will be conducted on September 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. prompt.
The Ministry directed all Principals of Government-owned Public Secondary Schools in the State to present three SS1 students each from their schools who are interested in learning Technical and Vocational Studies to write the entrance examination at the nearest Senatorial District Headquarters.
According to the statement the centres for the entrance examinations across the three Senatorial Districts are Government Model Secondary School, Ogbia – covering Ogbia, Nembe, and Brass Local Government Areas for East Senatorial District.
For West Senatorial District the centre is Government Model Secondary School, Sagbama – covering Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government Areas while for Central Senatorial District, the centre is Government Science and Technical College, Okaka – covering Yenagoa, Kolokuma/Opokuma, and Southern Ijaw Local Government Areas.
The statement further directed that all students taking the examination must be Bayelsans and should appear in their school uniforms when coming for the exam. It also asked them to come with two recently taken passport photographs for identification as well as pencil, biro, and eraser.
The Ministry also listed the names of the free boarding Government Science and Technical Colleges in Bayelsa State as, Government Science and Technical College, Swali; Government Science and Technical College, Ofoni; Government Science and Technical College, Ayamasa and Government Science and Technical College, Sampou.
