Hon. Alfred Kemepado, Commissioner for Youth Development in Bayelsa State, has stressed the need to obey a court order restraining the New Associates group from holding a planned rally in honor of Chief Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT and others in the state.
Speaking during an appearance on Let’s Talk Nigeria, Golden 97.5 FM’s morning program on Monday, 7th April, 2025, Hon. Kemepado noted that nobody is above the law.
The commissioner, who joined the program via telephone, reiterated the state government’s commitment to governance despite political tensions, adding that the administration remains focused on implementing policies that benefit the people of Bayelsa.
Also speaking on the program, Barrister Paraboma Igbomgbo, former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Sagbama Branch, noted that the court order expressly prohibits the rally, and any defiance would amount to a breach of the law.
Barrister Igbomgbo further stated that leader of the New Associates group as a legal practitioner, should demonstrate better adherence to judicial pronouncements given his professional standing.
