The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Bayelsa State, has announced the commencement of a rotational deployment of its Voter Enrolment Devices, IVEDs, to registration areas and wards across the state.

The exercise, which begins on Monday, February 2, 2026, will run for 50 days and is aimed at taking voter registration closer to residents, especially those in remote communities.

In a statement signed by Mr. Eme Agbor Akpa, the Administrative Secretary of INEC Bayelsa, the Commission said the decision followed repeated complaints from residents who experience difficulties accessing Local Government Area registration centres.

INEC explained that the initiative is part of its mandate to expand access to the Continuous Voter Registration exercise and boost participation in the electoral process.
The Commission noted that the CVR is open to eligible Nigerians aged 18 and above who have not registered, as well as registered voters who wish to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, or update their personal details.

INEC also advised citizens with PVC-related issues to visit its official CVR portal at cvr.inecnigeria.org. The Commission called on community leaders, civil society groups, political parties, and the media to help sensitize residents and ensure a peaceful and orderly registration process.

INEC added that the deployment of the roving machines will reduce pressure on Local Government Area centres and ensure that eligible voters, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas, can exercise their right to vote.

The Commission reiterated its dedication to a transparent, accessible, and citizen-friendly voter registration process, stressing that every eligible voter has a role to play in shaping the democratic future of the state.
