SWALI COMMUNITY PROTEST OVER DEADLY ATTACK BY SUSPECTED CULT GROUP

Residents of the Swali community in Yenagoa Local Government Area have taken to the streets in protest following a deadly attack by yet-to-be-identified gunmen on Saturday.

The incident claimed the lives of three individuals and left several others injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailants stormed the community at about 11:40pm, arriving in a black Hilux truck, two mini-buses, and a Toyota Camry.
Gunshots rang out for nearly twenty minutes, throwing the entire area into chaos.

During the protest that blocked vehicular movement, Mr. Jubilee Agada, a brother of one of the victims, recounted the horror. He said the attackers did not only unleashed terror but also left the chilling threat of returning.

Also speaking, Comrade Jasper Agada and Mrs. Gloria Amgbare, both indigenes of the community, decried the worsening state of insecurity.

They questioned how such brazen violence could occur in the state capital and called on the authorities to restore the military security presence in the community.

Meanwhile, Comrade Josiah Osomuze, the President of the Atissa Youth Council, visited the protest scene in solidarity with the residents and appealed to the government to act urgently and ensure adequate security is provided to prevent further attacks.
