GUNMEN AMBUSH PIPELINE SURVELLANCE WORKERS, KILL ONE, OTHERS SEVERLY INJURED

The people of Igbomotoru Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the State have made a passionate appeal to the Federal and Bayelsa State Governments to come to their aid following the attack and killing of a worker of a popular pipeline security surveillance company who were going for a crew change and food supplies to crew members on duty post operating in their community by some suspected sea pirates.

According to reports the sea pirates have allegedly been making several attempts to attack the surveillance company before the recent unfortunate incident.

 

Confirming the incident, Mr. Goodnews Manash, the Community Development Committee, CDC Chairman of Igbomotoru Community, who spoke to newsmen via telephone, said the militant group caused havoc along the Binikurukuru creek.

 

According to him, one Mr. Ekerete Odoh, an indigene of Igbomotoru 1 community was shut dead instantly at the spot of the incidence while Mr. Likson Godspower, the speedboat driver, who hails from Ekowe community in Southern Local Government Area sustained gunshot that severed one of his hands.

 

Mr. Manash further explained that the assailants went away with the 200-horsepower engine and boat belonging to the security outfit whose houseboat is situated by the pipeline of Lasukugbene/Baberegbene community of Igbomotoru West Bomo kingdom.

 

As at the time of filling this report, all efforts made to get confirmation from Mr. Musa Mohammed, the Spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command proved abortive as he was yet to reply a WhatsApp message sent to him.
