Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, Chairman of the Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ has said the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC was created to compliment the efforts of Government in the Niger Delta region.
Comrade Yemoleigha stated this when he led other state executive members on a courtesy visit to Mr. Godknows Alamieyeseigha, Bayelsa State Director of NDDC at his office in Yenagoa.
While commending the NDDC for its corporate social responsibility across the Niger Delta State, he called for improvement and sustainability to achieve the milestone that the people of the region agitated for to translate to stability and peace.
The NUJ Chairman who also spoke to newsmen immediately after the meeting, noted that even the rural communities now feel the impact of the Commission and expressed joy over the way and manner Solar lightings are installed in nooks and crannies not only in Bayelsa State but the nine States that make up the Niger Delta.
Earlier in his response, Mr. Godknows Alamieyeseigha State Director, NDDC appealed for collaboration between Government at all level and the NDDC to enable them carry out major projects peacefully.
He emphasized that NDDC projects are often stalled and not abandoned due to administrative changes and other challenges.
He also called on Local Government Chairmen and rural dwellers to always be protective of NDDC projects after hand over and promised to send across the requests made by the NUJ to the appropriate quarters in due course for approval.
