Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has made history again by cooking the world’s largest serving of jollof rice, officially certified at 8,780 kilogrammes in Lagos.
The feat, achieved on Friday in partnership with food brand Gino at Victoria Island, drew thousands of supporters, including celebrities and dignitaries, who turned the event into a carnival-like celebration.
Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement on Monday through a post on its official X handle, congratulating Baci and sharing footage from the cooking arena.
The celebrity chef, who shot to global fame with her cook-a-thon in 2023, said the challenge involved cooking about 200 bags of rice in a specially designed 22,000-litre pot. She explained that the quantity prepared was enough to feed more than 20,000 people.
During the event, Nollywood star Funke Akindele joined her on stage to stir the tomato base, while Ogun State First Lady Bamidele Abiodun and several other personalities turned up to lend their support.
Baci said the record attempt was not just about numbers but about showcasing Nigerian cuisine on the global stage and inspiring young people to dream big.
