The Department of State Services, DSS has arrested a suspect, Udeme Sunday Stephen, in connection with the recent attack on Peter Obi in Benin, the Edo State capital.

Recall that Mr. Obi and some party leaders were attacked last Tuesday at the residence of Chief John Oyegun, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Shortly after the incident, the suspect allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack in a post on his X account and threatened further violence against Mr. Obi.

However, a security source says DSS operatives immediately began a covert investigation, using forensic tools to track him.

The 26-year-old suspect was traced to Rivers State, where he works as a teacher at Jessica High School in Eliozu, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area. The source added that he will soon be charged to court.
