The Bayelsa State chapter of the City Boy Movement has distributed 700 bags of fertiliser to farmers and donated N10 million to support their registration with the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN).

The State Director of the movement, Barrister Osomkime Blankson, presented the items on Tuesday at the organisation’s secretariat in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Barr. Blankson described farmers as important members of society and a vital investment, noting that the initiative was aimed at partnering with and encouraging them to expand agricultural activities in the state.

He also stated that many farmers in Bayelsa have not fully benefited from Federal Government programmes due to limited access to information, adding that the engagement provided an opportunity to enlighten them on available opportunities under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Barr. Blankson further assured farmers that the City Boy Movement would provide pesticides and herbicides as requested by them.

Chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Bayelsa State, High Chief Aweikumoh Andrew, who received the items on behalf of the farmers, commended the gesture, describing it as the first-time farmers in the state are receiving such direct support.

Also speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the President of Nigerian Women in Agricultural Business in Bayelsa State, Mrs. Ebimotimi Leghemo, praised the initiative and pledged the continued support of farmers under her leadership for the movement.
